چکیده

Abstract Local scouring around the piers of a bridge is one major reasons for failure, potentially resulting in heavy losses terms both economy and human life. Prediction accurate depth local difficult task due to many factors that contribute this process, however. The main aim study thus offer new formula prediction pier using modern fine computing modelling technique known as gene expression programming (GEP), with data obtained from numerical simulations used compare GEP performance standard non-linear regression (NLR) model. best then determined based on three statistical parameters: determination coefficient (R2), mean absolute error (MAE), root squared (RMSE). A total set 243 measurements, by simulation Flow-3D, intensity flow, ratio width, flow depth, Froude number, shape factor divided into training validation (testing) datasets achieve this. results suggest model provides better predicting compared conventional NLR model, R 2 = 0.901, MAE 0.111, RMSE 0.142. sensitivity analysis further has greatest impact scour other input parameters. gives predictor scouring, and, addition, offers special feature providing explicit compressed arithmetical allow calculation such scouring.

Prediction of Scour Depth at Bridge Abutments in Cohesive Bed Using Gene Expression Programming

The scour modelling in cohesive beds is relatively more complex than that in sandy beds and thus there is limited number of studies available on local scour at bridge abutments on cohesive sediment. Recently, a good progress has been made in the development of data-driven techniques based on artificial intelligence (AI). It has been reported that AI-based inductive modelling techniques are freq...

Prediction of Bridge Pier Scour Using Genetic Programming

This paper presents the use of genetic programming (GP) as a tool to predict pier scour depths based on clear-water conditions of laboratory measurements by past researchers. Four main dimensionless parameterspier width, approaching flow depth, threshold flow velocity, and channel open-ratio are considered for predicting the scour depth. The performance of the GP equation is verified by compa...

buckling of viscoelastic composite plates using the finite strip method

Reducing Local Scouring at Bridge Piles Using Collars and Geobags

The present study examines the use of collars and geobags for reducing local scour around bridge piles. The efficiency of collars and geobags was studied experimentally. The data from the experiments were compared with data from earlier studies on the use of single piles with a collar and with a geobag. The results showed that using a combination of a steel collar and a geobag yields the most s...
